Epoca: Feeling the Old World Charm
One of the most charming B&B in Ragusa Ibla
I spend most of my time looking for places as magical as those I used to dream about, that would add something more to our routine vacation. And that was how I found this B&B in Ragusa Ibla, “Epoca” it was named.
Do you believe if I say that we stayed in the centre of Ragusa Ibla where we could park our car just in front of our hotel? Oh yes, that’s so true! If you have read my past articles about the other towns of Sicily you already know why parking quite near the hotel is such a relief, it is a very rare occasion in Sicily. But it is not all about this wonderful B&B in Ragusa Ibla!
Since the minute I stepped foot there, I actually felt like I was important. Just to start mentioning something, B&B Epoca had an ideal location, it was at the starting point of the centre of Ragusa Ibla but yet walking distance to all the attractions. Parking was on the front street and we were provided with a municipality pass to make sure that we did not receive any fines.

It was an ancient building of the 19th century owned and managed by the sisters Costanza and Maria Diquattro. You know when people say that everything is impeccable? That is the feeling we got while staying there: Epoca was a recently renovated B&B, (if I’m not mistaken, it used to be the owners home), with tastefully furnished, luminous and huge rooms where attention to details was impressive. It was clean and silent. I loved even the smell of the house. Beds were very comfortable and moreover different kind of pillows were available to assure a perfect rest. I wondered how the sisters Diquattro have been able to create such a touch of elegance; Class is something that you won’t come to find from one day to another right? They have to have been born in that atmosphere and this is the only answer I could give to myself when going around the B&B. It seemed we were in a movie; it was like if we stepped out of a time machine and landed into an aristocratic life of a couple of centuries ago, only our clothing was out–of–place. They have been able to keep up the past at 100% and giving a necessary touch of new where needed, without obviously forgetting the comforts of nowadays.

They had electric bicycles for customers’ use which was great to go up and down the hills of Ragusa.
Once again, a special attention goes to the breakfast, which was prepared with the Sicilian high-quality local specialities, things have not been exposed just only to give something to eat, but we could feel how every single item was intended to give the pleasure of eating.
The hosts? There is nothing to add about them, you can see when things are done with passion and heart. EVERYTHING was AMAZING! Returning seemed a must.
I only want to give you one advice, in case you reserve at Epoca call the sisters to get the information on parking because they have limited numbers of city pass and if it is not available any more, the sisters will guide you to the best solution. You don’t need a car in this town so once you park it you won’t touch it again until you leave.

It looks like a lovely place to visit. If a hotel owner is passionate about what they do, it really comes across and makes a stay that much more special. What brilliant customer service!
