The Most picturesque Holiday Home In Enna: La Casa Sulla Roccia

Our trip to Sicily started in Enna, a city right in the centre of Sicily. Enna has recently begun its journey towards tourism and several numbers of hotels are emerging in the beautiful historical centre of the city. While checking out for a place to stay Alessandro and I came across this unusual cottage, an old farmhouse located only 4 kilometres away from the city centre of Enna: La Casa Sulla Roccia (house on the Rock). That cottage seemed even more special to our eyes due to its castled location. We absolutely wanted to give a try there, that was exactly what we were looking for!!! The curiosity about staying in such a particular place was so high that we decided to book it even if it was out from the tourist area. Somehow, research after research I found an e-mail contact to write to (lacasettasullaroccia@libero.it). I received the confirmation from the owner Mr. Ottavio, who has proven to be welcoming since the moment we made the reservations. He helped us with everything and his phone number (+39 338 696 6001) was always ready to answer any our request.

Our flight to Catania got delayed two hours so we reached Enna at 11 pm. Upon arrival at La Casa Sulla Roccia, Giorgia, a well dressed cute girl around 20 was waiting for us for the check-in procedures. Once finished it faster we left immediately for dinner as it was getting really late. Only when back to the cottage we started to realize how the location was unique, which we saw well the day after with the sunlight.

The kitchen, the hall and the toilet were on the ground floor meanwhile the bedroom was in the loft. The interiors were furnished in a very simple and tasteful way; the kitchen was nicely equipped with all needed for cookings but the outdoor settings with unforgettable views especially during the sunset were certainly the strong point of La Casa Sulla Roccia. The spectacular town of Calascibetta located forehead gifted amazing great moments, both in the night and the day. The photos we have seen previously online didn’t give justice to the reality of the cottage and the surroundings.

It was so nice spending the evenings sitting on the porch admiring the sunset, having a barbecue or drinking a glass of wine together while watching the sun going down and disappearing slowly among the rolling hills. The animals (donkeys and goats) here and there in the property gave an additional touch to the environment that I felt lucky we have chosen a place out from the city where enjoying peace and tranquillity. In the aftermath, I also want to underline that this has been the only one hotel in Sicily where we had a huge parking place just in front of our cottage. If you are looking for hustle and bustle then this is not a place for you guys. That was something where you go to enjoy the silence and nature. There was no Wi-Fi or TV there but for us that never had been a big deal.

I recommend La Casa Sulla Roccia for all ages, adults and children will just adore this location. I’m sure kids will go crazy there, although parents must keep an eye on the little ones. We will definitely return!
